I survived my 1st track day. Very enjoyable indeed.
Was the first to have an off (at druids in the wet !!). Got stung by a wasp on the lip while drinking a coke. But made it back in once piece with no problems.

Would highly recommend it to anybody who's thinking about doing a track day. It was a really introduction. First they take you round the track in a mini bus to show you what's what. Then a couple of no overtaking slow laps in groups, then free session with max 20 cars on the track. Didn't think the number of cars was an issue and could have stayed out all afternoon if I was mad enough....

My main object for the day was to get a feel for the handling of the Elise on the limit. I definitely succeeded in this as was power sliding round (a bit) by the end of the day.

Apparently they plan to run more Novice sessions in the future. Just watch out for druids its a b*gger in the wet :yikes:

Hi,

Sounds like great fun - still wanting to attend a day at Snetterton at some point...

You have any pictures of the day?

Rob.

Hi Mike

certainly was a good day, I wanted to be a bit more confident driving the car and had great fun at the same time.

It was good to meet up with so many pistonheaders too.

If you go to this thread :
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=200114&f=18&h=0
and E-mail F1sh, he was taking pics on the day, he may have some of your car, even of your little 'off'

You may have been the first to go off but not the only, Mark went into the gravel at the first corner out of the pits (sorry can't remember the name) the bloke pulling him out wasn't too pleased, cause he had to dig down deep to get to his towing point

That's Paddock corner, on of the best in the country IMHO, challenging and requires bravery and commitment.

I went off there too earlier in July. Got severely told off by the track director.....

Thanks aelord, I thought that was what it was called.

It certainly was the most challenging bit, I had a bit of a slide, but managed to get it back into control.

Why on earth were you told off, I'm sure you didn't do it on purpose!!

Mark had one of the instructors with him when he went off and they all just had a laugh about it.

don't know - they were being quite tough that day, others that went off were not allowed to go back on. I was so counted myself lucky!
