Game pass game asking for Epic Launcher

I had Star War Squadrons on PC game pass. That membership expired and I downloaded it for free from the epic store. I recently renewed my game pass membership so want to use that to access my previous save. That’s where the fun begins

I went to play it yesterday via the XBOX PC app and, if I recall correctly, it asked me to sign in to Epic which didn’t seem right. So I removed Epic Launcher and it told me me that “you’ll need a new app to open this com.epicgames.launcher link”.

I have deleted and reinstalled the game three times on two separate drives and I still get the same message. All fresh installs have been initiated in the xbox app which then takes me to the EA App to make the actual download. I have also made sure that there are no linked accounts on Epic. I have also tried reinstalling then uninstalling Epic again.

Any new ideas on how to stop the EA app from asking for the Epic App?

Thanks for that. I did follow steps along those lines, if not the same.

It resolved itself this morning, after multiple restarts since I posted. I had not changed anything since then. Weird!
