Has anyone changed their iPod hard drive for a SSD drive ? My 160gb Classic is showing signs of failing. Friend went to Apple story and guy said it was possible.

I think CompactFlash card is the preferred choice.

Yes, did it years ago with a 32GB CF card and a fitting kit (IDE and CF are almost the same).cheap and easy. Restore it with iTunes once changed to rebuild the OS on it.

Still using it ten years later in the car as media storage.

Get yourself over to this page:

https://www.iflash.xyz/

get the metal tools they are great, buy an appropriate card and bobs your aunite as they say. I have the 4x micro sd but only 2 slots filled right now with 2x 256GB and I have about 300GB of music.

Also get Rockbox installed on it if you wan to listen to lossless music (FLAC's etc)
