ferrari 360 spider question!!
Discussion
Hi there people,
I would like to pick your brains as 1 of my friends has a 360 spider and insists on shelling out unnessery money.
His 360 spiders battery has run flat through lack of starting it.
Is it possible to jump start it with leads? and if so where would the battery be located.
Many thanks
Jon

If its a F1 version you can't jump start it.
Best getting a charger from halfords as stated before or a conditioner from www.accumate.co.uk

i had the same problems in the eary days of my 360. Mine is an F1 and it deff can be jump started as i have a couple of times, but the dealer told me it wasnt a good idea.
I had a trickle charger fitted which means i can plug the car directly into the mains while its in the garage so the battery is always 100%. 2 years after fitting this, never ever had a battery problem.
Dealer fitted mine free, but shouldnt cost more than £50 ish. Deff get him to get one fitted, sort all his problems out !

There is a risk of jump starting any car fitted with cats - Unburnt fuel in the exhaust system can sometimes cause a mini explosion (backfire) and easily damage the delicate ceramic matrix of the cats. They are horrendously expensive on all ferraris so beware.
That said, I think the question was "jump starting" using leads. Simply connect your fully charged battery ( "slave" ) to the installed flat one +ve to +ve. Then connect the -ve (earth) from the "slave" direct to a suitable point on the engine casing and start normally. The slave must be completely stand alone - ie NOT installed on on any other vehicle and NEVER supplemented by a boost / quick start charger.
I regularly use a C-Tek charger / conditioner (from Demon Tweeks) for my bike and cars and frankly flat batteries are a thing of the past. Used regularly, the conditioning extends useful battery life by some margin and therefore quickly pays for itself.
