My Boxster is currently covered by Porsche Assistance, which is about to expire. I don’t know what the going rate for renewal is yet, probably not cheap, but I seem to remember there were 1/2/3 year plans available, 3 year working out a bit cheaper.

I have thankfully never had cause to use it here or abroad but I seem to remember it was covered by the AA, is that still the case?

My main interest is for European travel where I might feel more vulnerable but it is obviously needed to work everywhere nowadays.

Are most sticking with PA or moving away for cheaper equivalents, if not are there any advantages of sticking with PA cover wise?

Any thoughts on which way to go much appreciated.

I have cover under my insurance (Lockton PCGB scheme) so didn't see the point in paying for a second set of cover so I haven't!

It's £175/£285/£385 for 1/2/3 years cover.

PA was an option when I renewed my warranty the other day. Just more convenient to extend the cover I have now, so I did. Whether PA provides a 'better' service than something cheaper, I can't say. Given Porsche is a premium brand and what you pay, I hope one would get priority over someone with their broken-down snotter. Just a hope, mind you...

Correct. I had to use assistance for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it was a standard AA van that turned up. Whilst logging the call was very quick and the chap was very polite, he did have to keep referencing what appeared to be a user manual for my car on his laptop!

I am also with Locton so have a similar service included.

I must admit I was a little hesitant as it seemed a little too good to be true to be included for free, but it does seem daft to pay twice for something you may not even ever need to use, so I am now doing the same as you.

You have probably saved me a few quid thumbup

I've not used them yet, fortunately, but given that it must be similar cover to the Porsche Assistance product (farmed out to a supplier) I can't see how paying extra is worth it. I think we get European cover too with the PCGB product? I don't know as I never drive abroad so it's not something I've looked for specifically!

I have just returned from a Eurohoon so the 'what if' question is always there in the back of my mind, but according to Lockton you are indeed covered in Europe so sticking with their product.
