Passing Scampton today I was intrigued by several shrink wrapped aircraft at the end of the runway (Taxiway). It looked like a Buccaneer, Jaguar and a Hunter, plus a second Hunter in front. Any ideas what might be happening to them? I presume transportation to a new home? It also got me thinking about the Hunters based at Scampton, I presume with the change in use of the base the runway is now inoperable?

It will be the non-airworthy Bucc, Su-24, Hunter (and poss the F-4?) that belong to HHA that used to operate the Hunters from Scampton on military contract. Not sure what is happening to them, whether they will stay at Scampton for the rumoured museum that has been talked about, or whether they will get moved elsewhere.
HHA now operate the airworthy Hunters from RAF Leeming IIRC.

Theyre ours, as above a Phantom, SU22, Buccaneer and a Hunter. And we simply have nowhere else to put them or way of moving them.

As the government are turning Scampton into an immigration centre, any investment and airport plans are now on hold, if they'll happen at all now.

I'd be asking the Bucc Group that was a Brunty, about maybe moving yours to Kemble for them to help look after there with theirs....as its the easiest one to move once the wings are folded up, as they did with their two live examples.
Probably be safer there than left at Scampton with what's going to be happening there...?

But thats just temporary surely ? The government are stopping the boats soon.
No boats - no migrants.
No need for an immigration centre/Islamist training camp/dispersal hub....?

To be clear, its an ex-DDR Su22 M4, Not an Su24 or Su27.

You'll over excite some people bandying around stuff like you've got a Fencer to play with.
Edited, cheers. Shows how much interest I pay to them lol.

The owner has absolutely no interest in letting them go, so in a field they will sit until such times as he sees fit to do something,
the Buc is a shame because its a complete jet, I was there when the SU flew in, but they hadnt moved a wheel in years until we got kicked out.

Thanks for answering, it’s just such a random sight. I hope you can find a suitable location for them soon enough. It seems like a monumental own goal not to develop the site to the benefit of those local to it especially as the city has enjoyed such a renaissance.

This video appeared in my YouTube feed earlier today, so they're all still there.

Not sure who's in the car that arrives near the end. Security unimpressed by somebody flying a drone over the site, perhaps?

I suspect it’s security and it’s why comments are off.
