Whilst I am all for ANPR particularly around where I live I have a question and fingers crossed for the answer.
Yesterday whilst motoring along on the bike I come across this dark green van parked in amongst the bushes with its back windows open point down the way I am about to go.
As I get alongside (you cant see it at all from the way I was approaching) I see the speed camera log and slow down in case I am over the limit.
A bit peeved I come back down the road to ahve a look and potentially a word. Now because it green and buried in the undergrowth you cannot see it this way either until you are on top of it. However on the back on one of the doors below one of the 2 opened balacked out windows there is a numberplate stating ANPR.
Slightly relieved but do they now do ANPR an speed in one van. No police around by the way.
If it was speed they would have made a killing!!!!!

Don't confuse ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) with speed cameras. They do diferent things. ANPR will show up that a car is uninsured, previously involved in crime etc. It will NOT do speed enforcement. ANPR is a great system which genuinly does fight crime.
Speed cameras are IMHO income generators.
