Insurance companies work out your premium increase based on the type of mod (how much to replace it) & the overall Engine BHP percentage increase. You'll need to calculte this before you call them, but before you offer your value ask for their pricing structure. Some determine prices based on 10% increments where as others choose 9%,13%,15% or higher. Once you know their pricing structure you might be able to alter your value slightly by 1 or 2 percent to save some money.

I delcared Full SS Exhaust & CAI with a 15%bhp increase based on a 380BHP final value & a 330BHP starting value. This is because I had the WRC dyno charts to prove the final value if anything ever happened. Mine went up by around £250, but that's because of my age. I dread to think what it would have been had I declard 410BHP final. I did not declare the ECU remap because I don't think they could ever prove that I'd had it done and it would have added to the premium.

I was shocked to learn that Brakes & Tinting your windows count as a mod and they will charge you for it. However, you'll benefit from grouping your mods together. I found no increse if I declared:

Full SS Exhaust
CAI
Tinted Windows
Brakes
15%BHP increase

- Vs -

Full SS Exhaust
CAI
15%BHP increase

I'd be interested in other peoples input here.

Im with greenlight.... the policy im on wants a £25 admin fee for declaring,

1. Suspension.
2. Brake upgrade
3. Sports Exhaust
4. Engine tunning not including turbos/chargers etc

Basically anything on the list for 25 each? ive declared the full exhaust & headers & decats... they only wanted the £25 as imformed, didnt bother with advising the rest of the stage II stuff & remap etc
