Does anyone think they will eventually get to the bottom of this?

I highly doubt it.

It seems to run so deep into all the ‘wrong’ places that those institutions involved could never fully admit to what went on.

I read the book a couple of years ago that was written by his brother (Alistair?) - can't see anyone ever being charged or convicted of this, far too much corruption when the murder took place.

I seem to recall there was a documentary about the case on Channel 4 two or three years ago and it seemed fairly obvious who was involved.

The Daniel Morgan podcast is also very good.

(It all follows through into the phone hacking scandal, really lifts the lid on what was going on and how the daily rags fed into it)

There is very little chance of any convictions now.

I think even the brother has given up ever finding out what happened, sadly.

It's pretty obvious who decided to murder him...it needs one of the respectable newspapers to clearly and unambiguously state his name and see if they get sued much like the Steven Lawrence case.

What gets me is how after all this time the police under Cressida Dick still tried to cover stuff up.

I'll have to see if I can watch that on a catch up channel, would be interesting to watch.

The documentary and the podcast were excellent but as everyone else says, it’s realistically swept under the carpet now.

The problem being it was a cesspool back then and those involved moved higher up the ranks.

In a few years time anyone left involved will likely be dead, or they hope that anyone who cares will be.

The same with trying to catch the killer(s) of poor young Vishal Mehrotra (another good podcast that did the legwork).

Sure, occasionally things will periodically pop up in the press like this week with Piers Morgan (who employed Southern Investigations) but he’ll brazen it out.

You’ve just got to accept these things went on in the past and hope they’re mostly isolated incidents these days-as they likely were back then.

His son was in my primary school class and older daughter up a few years.

I never even knew about this back then it was so covered up.

So sad, the family need closure.

It seems that each Commissioner has advised the next that their priority should be to cover up and refuse to fully cooperate with inquiries. This is just one more area in which the Met doesn’t seem able to hold itself to account.

Dame Louise Casey found that the Met has a culture of condemning external critics and intimidating internal ones into silence and that certainly seems to be the case as regards the Daniel Morgan case.

I remember thinking at the time she got the top job that it was a bad idea after what happened to Charles de Menezes.

Hi, could you elaborate a little?

No, because there is a huge web of corruption involved in covering up this murder.

I'm a long-time follow of Daniel's brother Alistair on Twitter.

This is his recent take on this latest turn of events

Thanks for that, I reserve my Twitter for car stuff only to keep the noise at bay so I wasn’t aware his brother was on there. Will give him a follow.

Someone needs to sort this **** out. Anyone found intentionally impeding the investigation needs 4-5 year prison sentence for perverted the course of justice.

They'll soon talk.....
