Any owners with experience of this? I think it would be the same for the Vanquish TT2, maybe TT3?

I was advised at service I had an oil leak around the diff and the oil was topped up around 750ml (is it normally unchanged?). Service have said the diff oil capacity is 2 litres, idk if that is right or not but that has worried me as the leak wasnt there at the last annual service, so its lost 35% ish of oil in less than 12 months, and a few thousand miles.

Is it a ‘they all do that sir’, as per the front timing cover leak?

I have been told that if its the driveshaft seal its a £2k job, if its a new diff its an £8k job.

Any shared experience of this would be gratefully received. The dealer was happy for me to take it and drive 70 miles home so I guess its ok to drive for now?

Not sure of the orientation of the picture. Is the drain plug in front of the leak or behind the leak, if in front I would say that the service dept put the old plug back in and if this is the photo after the service that is still the old plug, have they put a new one in and have they put a new washer in? Oil usually goes rearwards however if your plug is in front of the main accumulated oil you must be doing a lot of driving in reverse.

Not the same car, but I have had a torqueshift transmission oil leal, with my Mercedes-Benz.
The first symptoms were failure to shift gears correctly, which I realised later was caused by a low oil level.
You have not mentioned anything like that, but presumably your dealer has already checked the oil level, before saying safe to drive.

In my case the leak was caused by a failing oil seal, where electric wires enter the transmission.
It was not an expensive fix.

Hope your fault can easily be repaired.

Hi Andy,

I've not had a problem with mine, it's just about the only thing I haven't had a problem with recently!!!

I'm guessing if the dealer is ok for you to drive it home the diff is still ok, it's hard to say where it's coming from but looking at the photo i'd say it's maybe coming from the N/S halfshaft oil seal, this should be ok for a dealer to replace.

Years ago before ABS etc you could just jack up the rear of the car and run the engine in gear to see where it leaks from but you can't do that now as the car see's the front wheels not turning and it stops the rear wheels from rotating.

When i change my diff oil I use around 1.75 liters of oil so yours was really low, get the dealer to clean it all up, do a road test and then jack it up and hopefully you can pinpoint the leak.

Good luck, hopefully see you out soon for a run out.

The car is now in the dealer having the work done. Got a call to say the near side output shaft showed signs of wear where the seal that was leaking sits so it would be advisable to change the item. I’ve said yes. Pic below of what I was sent, no idea what I’m looking at, how good/bad is that and what would cause it?

Hi Andy, I presume that photo is the part that attaches the halfshaft to the diff?

My halfshafts look like this when i removed them to remove the subframe -

I think you've just got unlucky with that one, glad your getting it sorted now.
