What classic Porsche for £250,000?

Literally what it says on the tin.
I have a wonderful 1960s Italian but using her in anything but perfect weather is becoming challenging. Fuel starvation, etc is a real world issue.
If I sold, I'd have about £250,000 to spend. I think I'd go Porsche post 1975 as they are still really quite easy to use in the real world.
Any thoughts on what you'd do?

I think you’re either wanting something original, a restomod of something modern.
Original may not fit your use ability brief, so you can work through the huge choice of relatively modern RS stuff or perhaps get a restomod. I think that this might be nice from Ninemeister https://www.tomhartley.com/used-car-details/used-p... . They do ones that hark back to the early 70s if you prefer that look, but of course the drive would be so different. If you were commissioning one, I think it’d be about 250K. Tuthill or Theon design would be other options, but perhaps more expensive (depending on the spec in mind and state of the donor car).

A 993RS definitely ticks those. Had mine for 20 years, they are fabulous to drive (they do need to get warm first), and I have never had mine falter or not start. I find it amazing that the engine starts first time every time even when it has been left for ages. Stay on top of things and you won't regret it, a very involving car to drive. Not something that you'd just want to hop in, it is more of an occasion.
As someone above mentioned, Paul McLean at GT Classics is the authority on these. Or Thomas Schmitz in Germany - I've bought three cars from him, two were transported over unseen.

I’d probably have a look at a 1970 2.2 S. Great cars. Similar price bracket to the Carrera CS.
You would be amazed at how well the early cars drive they are simply a brilliant drive.
Whether one of them of the 993 RS is right for you depends on how you want to drive it. 964 RS is also a good shout.
With that budget I’d be quite temped to buy a 964 RS take the suspension off it and put the original engine in a crate. Put some more modern suspension on it and a more powerful engine. You’ve already got a short ratio gearbox, LSD and a stiff shell.

It really depends what the OP wants to used the car for. Personally I'd go for the Carrera CS or 2.2S both very special cars. 2.2 S is arguably the pick of all the variations of the S from '67 to '73. A good one would be an amazing road car for Sunday mornings and/or Europeam road trips.

I doubt that you could build that car to Ninemeister’s spec in budget when you consider the base car, 1000 hours of labour, plus parts. It’s a labour of love for the customer, but the resale value I suspect would not reflect this fully, so conversely this car should be well within your budget. A lot to read there and thank you for bringing this excellent thread to my attention! Yes, I can see it is rather well-trodden and even page 1 shows that you should be buying 2nd hand and not building...
I think I'd love a Singer, but I don't have Singer money. May a pre-loved Tuthiull, Ninemeister or Rennsport is the way forward.
