Im after a car for family of 4 and a dog, teenage kids. I think the fiesta is a great all round car but I've read a fair few reviews that the Ibiza is just as good but even more spacious, anybody got experience of this, or an even better alternative, cheers folks.

Had the Ibiza, now on the Fiesta. My two children are under 10 and I wouldn’t want a smaller car / bigger children as the size difference IS noticeable between the two.

We have a fairly high spec Fiesta and it’s a cut above the mid-level Ibiza we had.

Pound for pound, high spec Fiesta (or Focus) is probably the best bet imho.

The Fiesta/Focus are a very good shout, two others (I say two as each are the same car) worth a look are these.

The Astra especially in Elite Nav 150 form makes a lot of sense:

The Ibiza is a decent car but I'd put all of the above in front of it when it comes to buying a car.

Ibiza interior space is impressive (as with it's platform-mate Polo). Close to the previous gen Leon. Definitely better than the Fiesta.

Personally I find the Fiesta interior more dated looking than the Ibiza if that is important.

Be careful on specs with Ibizas - they are quite low, and didn't have the option of electric rear windows on most of the range at first (not sure if that is still the case. Might seem silly but that was a deal breaker for me on the car at the time, Excellence trim was the only one with the "toys" I like but it is rare and expensive.

Polos have much better spec (and there are a lot more to choose from).

For what it's worth I ended up with a Hyundai i20 which also has good space, and plenty of "toys".

Interesting, I never realised the ibiza and polo used the same platform.

That same platform is also used by the Skoda Fabia. However, unlike the Ibiza or Polo, the Fabia is available as either a hatchback or an estate. The estate's extra interior space would probably be useful if you're transporting four people plus a dog.

Fabia only came onto the latest platform a year or so ago. Although the previous Fabia was quite roomy as well. No estate on the new platform.

Indeed, but the OP is looking at cars from 2018 onwards. Not sure if their budget would make the latest Fabia a possibility?
