I was subjected to a 6 hour delay when the last drone nonsense happened in 2018.
Looks like some muppet has flown one again today, causing all sorts of nuisance:

I remember that, madness.

Even madder that (from memory and I may be recalling incorrectly) not a single piece of photo or video was ever captured of a drone at Gatwick.

Correct. A mate of mine worked there at the time. He was in constant contact with plod/security, & is still totally stumped what exactly happened.....

Thread title says Again, but I thought in the previous thread someone said it definitely didn't happen.

Happy to be corrected but I think there were reports of a drone, the Police sent up a, er, drone and then everyone who saw the Police drone thought they were looking at the "rogue" drone which may or may not have existed...

I used to work for Sussex Police, they couldn't find their arse hole with both hands and map.

Drone, no drone. They won't know.

But nobody was able to get a photo of the police drone? That means it didn't exist!

Grumps.

Airports have drone detection systems which can sometimes give a false alarm. It's not all based on sight of 'something' in the sky, although that's what the media report.

Balloons eh? I wonder how much £££ was lost due to this?

Anyway, I suppose the thread title now needs changing...

Aren't red balloons available anymore for this sort of thing?

You and I in a little toy shop
Buy a bag of balloons with the money we've got
Set them free at the break of dawn
'Til one by one, they were gone
Back at base, bugs in the software
Flash the message, "Something's out there!"
Floating in the summer sky...
