Star Wars. Opening scene on some planet, people fly across space a bit, some bad guys plot, big battle, happily ever after. Plus some weird half arsed magic. Rinse and repeat for god knows how many films now.
I really wish I was more into it, mainly because the Lego models look pretty awesome (although I guess my bank balance can be grateful

I remember when it came out in the cinema, I missed it first time round. All my mates raved about it, went to see it 2 or 3 times. The film came back 3 weeks later and I got to go and see it with some of my mates.I really wish I was more into it, mainly because the Lego models look pretty awesome (although I guess my bank balance can be grateful
)I remember coming out and thinking 'is that it?'. Even as a die hard Sci-fi fan I really couldn't see what the fuss was about!
Big Bang Theory is probably the one where my opinion diverges the most from it being popular, though it does seem that more recently, there are more people who say they also thought it was awful.
There are a few things where, although I enjoy them, I don't think they're anywhere near as great as many seem to. The John Wick films I feel have gone too much into painting themselves into a corner with worldbuilding and lore, and haven't ever hit the highs of the first one.
The Expendables series has all the right ingredients, but somehow they feel less than the sum of their parts.

I'd love to say Game of Thrones, having avoided anything to do with it for years but I reluctantly watched a re-run of Series 1 and watched the first episode and got totally hooked then binge watched the whole lot.
So, after that we decided to watch Breaking Bad years after it began on the basis that everyone couldn't be wrong... and gave up after about 4 episodes.

Plenty!
The most controversial one for me is Top Gun: Maverick. I absolutely loved the original, and have seen it so many times that I can recite all the lines from memory. It made me want to become a pilot, and while I don't fly for work, I learned to fly at age 16 and have flown on and off since, as funds and time allowed.
But Top Gun 2 feels like a spy thriller fantasy - Iron Eagle meets Mission Impossible - whereas the original felt much more real. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it, but I don't think it was worthy of the almost universal adoration it received. Entertaining? Yes. But this Rotten Tomatoes score? Pah!

I'm with you too, I was massively disappointed and just didn't get the universal adulation, I just found it way too cringe, it was pretty much a remake of the original still with the cheese and a bit more, the original was a product of its time meaning the cheese worked and is what one would expect, however that level of cheese just doesn't work for me in a modern film. There are people out there who've seen it at the cinema multiple times!
Harry Potter, I've not seen 1 of them the whole way through, I just can't do it, it's a kids book and film what's with all the adults being into it!
I walked out of the cinema early on when I was watching Avatar because I thought that it was garbage. No way would I want to watch the newer one either.
I didn't enjoy Pulp Fiction at the cinema either(I just didn't get the hype with it), although I did stay until the end for that though.
