Evening all,

I quite fancy another Jag, and the 2nd gen XF S (petrol V6) has taken my fancy. Not sure I could bring myself to have a 4 pot Jag…

Anything I need to look out for when buying? It wouldn’t be a high mileage example.

Thanks in advance!

Watching with interest, as they’re also on my radar.

I need a bigger car / family car, as I’ve inherited another teenager hehe and I’m familiar with (petrol) Jags. Last one (when married) was an XE S 380. Reliable, went like stink and handled extremely well. Think I just need a little more room, although another XE would certainly be doable, just…..

I’ve always thought JLR missed a trick by not making an XE estate. Off topic perhaps - apologies OP!

I had an XF 5.0 Portfolio V8 na (380bhp) for 2 1/2 years. Rare car only available to order in the UK as it was the standard USA market configuration. Loved it and probably would still have been in my possession but wife's arthritis meant she found it a problem getting in/out of. Did not have any issues while I had the car.

Thanks for all the replies.

I do think the non-upgraded infotainment system looks hugely dated, and actually rather cheap, so the upgraded one would be my preference.

From what I can tell, the drivetrain is fairly reliable. I had a first generation XF S (diesel), and other than the DPF doing a lot of whingeing (my commute became much shorter after I’d bought it), it ate tyres and brakes. Everything else was marvellous.

That’s nice for you, but not the car the OP is asking about.

A great car Leaper and as we know apart from the engine much shared componentry with the V6 . What did you replace it with ?

As with any aluminium Jag check everything that isn’t aluminium that bolts to the car as certain areas are notorious for rust. Check the body for any damage and evidence of a poor repair and / or the onset of filiform corrosion.
