Lacquer to protect an autograph?
Discussion
I'm looking for the best way to protect autographs on plastic headphones please.
My son managed to get his headphones autographed by some weight lifting champions at a recent event, and he wants to protect the ink (white sharpie) from wearing off. What would be the best product to apply to help preserve the ink? Would aerosol clear coat be best?

Might be worthwhile looking at artists' spray-on varnish as that has anti-UV protection. Google it - ....
Yes, sounds worth looking into, thanks.Jazoli said:
Lacquer would work or you could put some helicopter tape over it, or paint protection film.
Good idea, though not sure if that could bubble over time? Would lifting it off also take the ink off too?Racing Sparrow said:
Maybe need to check the protective finish doesn't attack the ink too. Draw something on some plastic and do a test run.
Good point. This is why I recommend artist's varnish. Artwork won't yellow over time, when exposed to light, for instance. It's designed to protect art so that the artwork can be handed down to your grand children's grand children, apparently! It's the most expensive varnish you can get I think?
