I came across this article:

https://www.southwalesargus.co.uk/news/23519641.mo...

Not the most reliable of news sources but nevertheless, they've published it. It essentially says dash cam footage posted online can infringe data protection rights/violate privacy. With a possible investigation by the ICO if the subject complains.

I get the bit about it interfering with legal proceedings where the footage is used as evidence, but other than that, is there a data protection issue?

The sole comment to that article was:

"Codswallop. When you're in public spaces there is no expectation of privacy and street photography/filming is perfectly legal. The copyright owner is entitled to do as they see fit with the images, including uploading it to social media."

Nobody cares as it’s irrelevant.

Not if so called dash cam warriors are going to get prosecuted.

Isn't that what the OP was getting at?

Kind of, and not sure which bit is irrelevant and to what, without further detail. But just curious if this was correct legally as I thought all photos/videos in public were fair game. Or would they need to put a CCTV sticker in their window, like buildings with CCTV are supposed to?
