Favour: Anyone local to Reading / Berks with a Press...?
Discussion
Evening All,
I am about to embark on some work to my Nissan Elgrand camper before a trip up to Snowdonia, which involves replacing both front wheel bearings.
I am more than happy (and equipped) to strip down the front hubs and remove the front drive hubs / flanges and probably also remove the old bearings, but am in need for some assistance with pressing the new (genuine Nissan/NSK) wheel bearings on the drive flange.
This is a bit of a long shot, but I just wondered if anyone within reasonable distance from Reading / Wokingham might have a workshop press that could be used to press in the new bearings? Potentially this weekend or early next week? I will bring hub and bearings (only) over to you at a convenient time....as well as biscuits, bacon rolls, coffee or whatever else you desire. I expect it's a 30minute job for both, tops.
I have called several local garages local to me who are either too busy and not interested (or both), despite me making it very clear that I am not after a 'freebie'. To this extent, I will gladly (no questions) pay for your time and wear tear on your tools etc for anyone that can help me
Anyway thanks in advance,
Matt
PS: The reason I am not getting a garage to do the whole job is that ultimately I am not 100% sure that the drone noise is definitely the bearings, hence trying to eliminate one suspect in the most cost effective manner....
