After my last post of getting a tow car. which is now sorted and my wife will use it as a daily. I'm after a load lugger kind of do it all as a second car then main car when my other car sells. I'd like another Merc ML but the near £700 per year tax is off putting. The X5's are less than that and can have quite good spec. We looked at one locally last weekend and the wife likes them but as this one was a 57 plate it was £695 tax and I think from 08 they're £395?

I prefer the looks of the Sport models and have noticed some came standard with the sports suspension delete. I was tempted to look at one in B'stoke up for just under £13k but the MOT history and short'ish ticket put me off that along with very budget tyres. Plus it'd be nice not to have another silver car. There is also a bronze coloured one nr Wokingham that I remember seeing advertised earlier this year - downside is no heated seats.

I've got a code reader for BM's and hope to get that plugged in. I have read about chains and tensioners as well. Is there anything to look out for apart from the usual things of checking all electrics work, tyres, brakes and bodywork? I think I have my head around the different engines with some been twin turbo'd and other singles.

If you're looking at a Petrol X5 I think (around you're price point) they're all £695 tax unless you find a Jap import, I have to say at around 13k I'd be looking for the nicest Cayenne I could find:
