Aston Martin and Volvo In the same umbrella again just like the Ford days of the premier auto group.
Not a bad thing Geely have done great with Lotus and Volvo have some good product.
We all moaned when the cars were getting old and the tech was not up to date!
Nice to see new models and investment into AM

If based on some of the engineering I have seen in a recent Volvo.
I f*cking hope not, it is hopeless.
4 years old, 17.5k, new crankshaft due to float because of crap engineering (giving an engine half thrust bearings fundamentally)....£6.5k to a punter, £3.4k to the warranty company.

According to the telegraph a big chunk of the Geely cash has repaid yew tree …
“… But of the total proceeds, £140m will go to Yew Tree as it offloads 42 million shares at 335p-a-share and reduces its holding. It’s hardly a vote of confidence from Stroll himself.
Indeed, shareholders might also be wondering whether he still believes Aston is simply a “a jewel in need of a polish”, as he hastily proclaimed upon taking control, or if ultimately it will prove to be the beginning of the end for Yew Tree’s involvement.”

Look like Stroll is going to sell out to the CCP.

I was surprised when announced, to read that the Yew Tree consortium's holding had been reduced.
As I mentioned on the Stock Market Listing topic, his private F1 team is far more valuable while they can use the Aston Martin name.
Any complete change of AMLGH plc ownership, would very likely mean no more (up to 2050) use of the AM name on the F1 team.

Possibly. It was a surprise to see Yew Tree reduce their holding, but my thoughts are he might want to keep going as long as possible.
Reasoning;
The rights for the private F1 team to use the Aston Martin name, is a contact running until about 2050 (subject at intervals to directors continuing approval).
With a change of ownership, that contract (which does not involve any payment) might abruptly end.
There is likely to be a change of ownership clause.
Imagine how many sponsors might leave, if they no longer enjoy the attractive associated conection with Aston Martin.
The F1 team sponsorship is thought to be worth hundreds of millions.
Possibilities;
1. There is an agreement with Geely for holdings to remain the same until August 2024. I did not read carefully, but possibly that agreement also involves Yew Tree. Perhaps the reduced holding has something to do with that.
2. LS is thinking about selling his F1 team (in which case remaining at AML would have little reason), but the F1 team without the AM name would then have lower value.
3. The shares have had a very strong 90% increase during the past 6 months. To keep that kind of momentum going, would probably either need sustained profitability (a new concept after 110 years), or a takeover.
Therefore bank some of that 90% gain, then if the share price declines, there is an opportunity buy back at a lower cost.
Who knows.
