Tyres for wedges - Help!

Just pulled 1 inch nail out of my offside front tyre. I've been down to my local tyre centre who are always v helpful, and they've told me that Toyo are no longer producing the Proxes T1-S. My wedge runs 225/50 ZR15's which I was going to have to replace in the near future anyway. They also say that the Bridgestones I put on our 400SE are now v difficult to get hold of (S0-3's). Anybody got any other makes of tyre they would recommend in the correct size? - Cheers

Had a pair of Toyo's T1s put on thursday last. Guessing there are still a few in various stores? They had to order them as well.

I also had a pair of T1's' Toyos put on about 3 weeks ago.
They took 3 or 4 days to arrive, after the depot ordered them. (225x50x15).

I thought that the 'R's were supposed to have a more rigid sidewall... not really what is wanted on a Wedge ?

This was discussed on another thread, and that's why I decided to stay with the old 'S' Proxes.

Good point - but I can't understand why you wouldn't want a more rigid sidewall on your Wedge-wellies. The amount of hammer my T1S shod 400SE gets on the track - I really cant' wait to try the T1Rs next season...

Comfort factor off-track I suppose, Wedgies being teeth-rattling enough on country roads for most people.

I'd love to take mine around a track, but in my case I'm sure the driver would cancel out any positive attributes the tyres may have.

I'm running Hankook Ventus tyres on mine at the moment. I've been very impressed with them. Took all that a track day at Spa could throw at them and still drive nicely. Good levels of grip that develop into nice controllable slide at the limit.

They are also about half the price of the Bridgestone/Toyo equivalent.
