Wife interested in X1 Petrol Auto
Discussion
Morning all,
The wife is interested in chopping in her reliable toyota and wants something with per-zazz. She's driven an X1 (think it was a diesel) and it seems to tick everything she wants in terms of space, driving position, plus (rightly or wrongly) the badge.
In terms of her mileage a diesel is out, her profile would be better suited to EV but she recognises that she'd suffer from range anxiety. Also musts are automatic and a sun-roof. The engine on the toyota didn't have any poke at all so something "not as bad" would be preferable but it's not as must-have as the sun-roof and automatic.
Looking for something from 2018-2019 onwards.
Are there any different versions from around that time and how big is the difference. What are the petrol automatics like to drive? are they reliable? Do they have any poke? what's the difference between the 2ltr and the 1.5?
Finally are there any other cars we should be considering? Bearing in mind the 500-odd pages about the 2nd hand car price crash, is it safe to assume that car prices are reached a new normal?

yes great cars. The 18i has plenty of poke.
The automatic gearboxes are brilliant and made by ZF. as long as you get them serviced they will last a lifetime.
for the infotainment system try and avoid the entrynav's as they don't come with carplay.
edit: just checked, they run the GA8F22AW gearbox made by Aisin. which again are brilliant.

I didn't think the X1 used the ZF box. It's based on the clubman platform is it not so similarly gets the Asin box or something along those lines. The automatic gearboxes are brilliant and made by ZF. as long as you get them serviced they will last a lifetime.

after my E63s got stolen and whilst i waiting for my C63s (for context) we had the 2 litre petrol X1 (i think called sDrive20i?) for a couple of months and it had ZERO POKE
maybe depends what you're coming from, but there were definitely some hairy moments pulling onto roundabouts etc with that engine. crazy to think that a 2 litre turbo with 190ish bhp would feel so sluggish - when i was growing up those would have been impressive numbers!

I should think any car would feel broken after cars like that maybe depends what you're coming from, but there were definitely some hairy moments pulling onto roundabouts etc with that engine. crazy to think that a 2 litre turbo with 190ish bhp would feel so sluggish - when i was growing up those would have been impressive numbers!
