Hello,

I've only had my car 3/4 weeks now and I'm interested in a few mods, however I thought it would be best to get a letter from Vauxhall approving mods I'm looking to do so it helps with potential resale plus the car remains 100% in warranty.

The dealer went away to check all this out and said that the Vauxhall approved exhaust system is the only mod allowed.

anyone got thoughts on this?

thanks
Mike

Wouldn't Vauxhall be on a sticky wicket trying to refuse a warranty claim that wasn't engine or driveline related?

like warranty companies, they would likely try to find a way of getting out of it.

I would love to have an induction kit, ecu remap and exhaust but I dont want to risk the warranty if something was to go wrong.

I thought some tuners like wortec had close relationships with the main vxr people at vauxhall???

Vauxhall standard dealers know jack sh!t about Monaros. They make a great pretence, but know sweet FA. Really pisses me off.

If you want definitive answers then Picador (graham), and Caspy are both Vauxhall dealers. Give them a call and you'll get the real answers. These guys are in a minority at Vauxhall in that they happen to know what they are on about and actually really have a passion for these cars.

Also, Paul at Wortec will give you an opinion too, I'm sure.

Now, back to the cricket.

I can also recommend Brian at Greens (Caspy)

Only had a few dealign so far but a thoroughly nice chap and seems to indeed know his Monaros very well.

Couldn't do enough for me to find out prices of various esoteric things and got a good deal for me on a new car too.

It's been discussed but I'm not convinced that it was really settled. Or more likely I'm still confused. As I read it, it seemed to be down to the dealer as to whether any tuning or other mod would invalidate the 3 yr warranty and not Vauxhall itself.

It seems that the dealers that do the mods are happy to offer 1 year warranty BUT no mention of the effect on the 3 yr warranty.

all dealers should be singing off the same hymm sheet if you ask me.

Something should come from Vauxhall stating what can and cant be done. Formal letter then we all know where we stand.

no brainer really.......

Your right Booster, my mate got a bargain mint stolen/recovered Saab 9-5 Aero, will stick some miles on it & sell it for what he paid. Maybe by then he will be have a definitive answer & will get a Monaro. Personally, I'm convinced from experience that these cars, well the 5.7's anyway, can take serious tuning without any problems. Some people are more cautious than others though & if I had a manufacturers warranty I guess I might feel the same.
