The battery just died in my cheapo (€25) work Casio MW240. I could just replace the battery but it's a bit annoying not having a date field on it, so considering a minor upgrade instead. Anyone got any suggestions for a fairly slim cheap analogue with date?

Casio MW59 and Timex Easy Reader both look ok but no idea what other brands are reasonably robust and reliable.

Casio MRW-200H fits the bill perfectly. Lots of colours to choose from too. Here is one on offer if you are in the UK:

Lorus are a sub-brand of Seiko and have some good options.

Something like this?

Not in the UK, but hadn't thought of looking at Argos for ideas. That Casio's a but busy for my taste but there's a few Lorus' there that look OK, cheers.

Yeah but at €3.50 including postage from China would it still be working by the time it arrived biggrin I think I'll stick with a known brand name for now.

Argos are an unexpectedly good option for a cheap, reliable watch with a warranty.
TK Maxx occasionally have interesting stuff too.

I picked up this off Amazon, very pleased with it and the Indiglo is a nice feature.

Cost me £35 off Amazon.

Seems a decent price, is it the Expedition Camper? They're €75 here!

Worth taking a punt at that price I suppose if you like the style. I'm looking something a bit plainer though, for reference I'm currently rocking one of these biggrin

My ideal would be something similarly minimalistic but with a date field.

My other watch is a Garmin using this face but with battery instead of altitude.

Hop on to the sub £200 (and occasional opera!) thread and take a look.

They're mainly friendly as should give you some ideas.

It is indeed. I think prices vary on Amazon dependent on the colour choice. This one is still £33 but the all black one is £93 for some reason.

I bought a Timex Weekender as well but there's no date on that one. Similarly nice though.

No one will manage to beat me for cheapness after my latest purchase…

£2.90 including shipping from Ali Express. It is a tiny bit shoddy around the edges but works perfectly. Has stopwatch and illumination.

Probably made in the same factory as some of the other Chinese brands like SKMEI.

For £3 you really can't go wrong. I have a genuine Casio one and that's great.
