Please Konami don't screw this up. Rockstar made a right mess out of the GTA trilogy remasters.
I was actually reminiscing about the MGS games recently. IMO the greatest action adventure series of all time. Shame Kojima is long gone.
Trying to pick my favourite from the series. It's between Snake Eater and Guns of the Patriots.
I - Way ahead of its time. First of its kind that blended game and movie with superb cutscenes, storytelling and dialogue. Who remembers breaking the fourth wall during the Mantis boss battle? Truly incredible. A landmark video game.
II Sons of Liberty - Decent enough but didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would.
III Snake Eater - Absolute masterpiece, the attention to detail is incredible.
IV Guns of the Patriots - As above, a real high point in the series. Nails it in many ways: graphics, storyline, characters, gameplay etc.
V Phantom Pain - Mechanically I thought it was top notch with a great setting ('80s Soviet-Afghan war), shame it felt half finished and the lacklustre story. At least Quiet was nice to look at.

I still remember spending hours trying to work out where Meryl's codec frequency was on that disc you got given
such a masterpiece, I wish I could play it with fresh eyes. Completed it at least 3 times (tuxedo on the 3rd playthrough of course!
)MGS2
I played the hell out of this too. The different dog tags for every enemy on every difficulty level was genius, I thus know I've completed MGS2 at least 5 times hunting down as many dog tags as possible

MGS3
More solid gold. Being able to snipe The End during a very early cutscene is classic Kojima attention to detail. Much like the boss battle 'time out' trick

I found MGS4 started to get a little... slow paced, I'm not sure, I've only played it through once. It felt like quite a long slog by the end.
MGSV
Gameplay gold. Bats
t story. A real shame for it to feel so unfinished / rushed towards the end, but as a sandbox for MGS'ing, it felt SO good to play. I even went back many years later just to mess about. Try turning off all of the HUD, no camo, and actually hunting people down using your eyes and ears. It's brilliant. It's comfortably my favourite series, and I think the first one in particular was such a big step forward in so many ways, and in ways that can't really be copied now because they're just so MGS (the psycho mantis battle in particular)
Pointless attention to detail bit I remember particularly fondly, if you hit Meryl then she'll slap you back. fair enough. Once that little wolf puppy starts following her around, if you hit her and then hide in a cardboard box, she gets the pup to pee on the box. If you equip this now pee'd on box when you go through the area with the wolves, they smell the wolf scent, and don't attack you

I'm really pleased to see that David Hayter will reprise his role for the remake.
Is this 100%? If so OMFG that's brilliant news!
