First of all, thank you all for the advice and help on taking my CBT. All done and dusted now and my first bike has been bought.

I know many people said just go the DAS route and get it all done in one go, but I wanted to get used to a bike before I went 'big'.

Yesterday at about 12 I had a delivery van arrived with this, a 2022 Husqvarna Svartpilen 125.

I liked the look of it amd feel because it looks like a bigger bike on the road than a 125 and you don't see many around.

Managed about 60 miles roaming around yesterday and I think I'm going to be hooked.

The plan now is to get a few months riding and commuting, now and again, them get my theory done and go from there.

Best of luck with it - great time of year to get a bike.
I've no knowledge whatsoever of that model, but it looks like 125s have come on a long way since the CG125.
Enjoy.

Absolutely the right decision made. Having 18 months on my CB125R has given me all the experience. Had my first DAS lessons a few weeks ago on a 650 and I had confidence the second I swung my leg over.

Congrats lovely bike. I did time on a 125 before going big & didn’t regret it at all.

Congratulations!

Just get the tests booked. I did 2 cbts because I couldn't be arsed to do the tests but once I had a go on a 650 I didn't want a 125 anymore.

Yep just come back from another lesson on a 650. Laugh out loud quick!

I remember my first lesson on the "big bikes", I was at the front of our gaggle as we hit the bypass and got told to gun it, the speed was amazing, I was flying along when the instructor's voice came over the radio telling us to watch the corner I was screaming up towards. I rolled off and glanced at the speedo, surprised at it showing a whole 50MPH. biggrin

Don't worry, I've no intention on having to do the cbt again. It will definitely be done within the 2 years.

I've already found myself looking at bigger bikes on auto trader

Nice looking bike.
Assuming it's a KTM with some styling changes, be totally anul with looking after it in the winter. They do not like road salt!
And if you put an aftermarket exhaust on it, PLEASE don't remove the baffle - they sound ASBO/gash, really annoy people & probably make zero difference to power output.....
Otherwise: the sun is out - enjoy!

Yes KTM with some styling changes. I will note that for later in the year when it goes out in the winter wash properly.
I think I will keep it as is for the moment, unless something falls off. At 35 my modifying a 14.7 horse power beast are past I think! biggrin

Nice looking bike. Should be great for a year or two.

Of course, this being Pistonheads, the correct answer to 'what should be my first bike?' is probably a v4 Panigale! wink

For balance, my 701 has seen 2.5 winters and doesn't show it. It gets washed irregularly, but I do use ACF50.

I have a KTM 690 SMC R. I've done similar winterage. I think the difference maybe that the smaller bikes are made to a price in India. However, the fasteners even on the Austrian made bikes are coated in some stty water based coating. Likewise, copious quantities of ACF 50 are highly recommended.

Don't want to hijack the thread but I recently had the swing arm replaced on my Yamaha under warranty due to rusting.

When I took it in to the dealership they asked if id used anything like ACF50 on it and the feeling I got was that this might have been a reason to refuse the warranty replacement.. In fairness they didn't argue and just rented the SA without question.
