Went for a run today (in the car) stopped off at a number of places last point was the national herb centre in Banbury as other half wanted some bits.

Locked car returned 1 hour later pressed button to open doors and boot, boot would not open so locked car and pressed to open again.

This time nothing would open door mirrors stayed in roof was down so I tried to open door from the inside lever but dead locked, alarm went off so no dead battery (I fitted a new one some 2 months ago) same for the key fob so all new batteries.

Tried for over 20 mins to open but no joy called AM assistance and they started the process of sending someone out and the the possibility of putting the car on a trailer locked in park!!!

Whilst on the phone to AM assistance kept trying the remote keyfob doors unlocked, called off the cavalry started the car and drove home.

I have tried many times to replicate the fault but the key fob works on every occasion.

Question is has anyone had a similar issue??.

If a 4.3 or 4.7 Vantage with factory fitted alarm it has it's own battery too.

Never happened to me (V12 Vantage S Roadster).
I always keep my little emergency key if taking the car out, just in case, but never had to use it.

Is it possible RF interference?

My P38 Range Rover would pull the same stunt if too near a mobile phone mast.

Top 2 floors of the local multi storey car park were out of bounds because of this.

ow ships, I mean 5G network, if they pump up the signal it can be bad for life and maybe electronics in some ways?

I have an old BMW which sometimes doesn't respond to the remote. I've heard that RF interference can be a problem, but it's usually solved by putting the key against the car window and pressing the button.

Gents

Many thanks for the info as a few have stated it could have been some electronic interference.

I have placed the emergency key somewhere inconspicuously on the car so if ever needed at least I can get in the car.

Will also be taking the second key fob with me for a few months so that if the problem reoccurs I can confirm that it is a key fob or some other problem.

Allegedly car parks are sometimes frequented by folk using jammers to interfere with owners trying to lock their cars as they walk away, presumably in the hope they won't notice the car is left unlocked.
