how much oil ?

i have a Ultima sport with a 5.7 chevy can any one please tell me how much oil i need for an oil change i can get valvoline vr1 20w-50 racing oil is that oil ok for my car. also can any one tell me of a good oil filter to use.

hi Bob ,i used th vavoline 20-50 R1 in mine , to fill everything (accusump , cooler )i used 2 gallon cans had to get a 3rd so i had some spare !!!!seems like a good oil get 5bar oil pressure when its cold .simon

Hi Bob,

I really depends on your oil pan and the rest of the system; Accusump, dry sump, remote oil filter, cooler, etc. However, if it's a standard pan on an SBC, it should be 5 quarts (including filter replacement). It's best, when replacing the filter, to fill the new filter with oil in advance.
