These - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/125938364039 Probably are too cheap compared to the QuickJacks (the one I want is out of stock on Costco, typical), but they would do what I need if they really get the car up that high. Use them to lift, stick some decent axle stands on the normal jacking points and lower back down, wheels off.

Are these likely to be death traps? I suspect I know the answer already, but I need to check. smile

I haven't used those but my concern would be the terrible mechanical leverage they have at the bottom of the travel. That mechanism could be taking ten times the weight on the wheel for the first inch or so, and that's a lot to ask of what looks like a lightweight home made frame.

I'd be very weary of gear like that that has been home made and not gone through any certified testing for strength and load capacity.

I get what you are saying, but I doubt it would be an issue.

It is only like the first inch of a scissor jack.

I went with a couple of electric scissor jacks so I can lift the car simultaneously each side before popping the axle stands under.

They remind me of the ramps sold by CJ Autos...
