I've managed to literally blow up the cotter pin of where the coolant pipe connects to the engine (see pics).
Besides the story of how it happened being embarassing I have two problems you surely can help me with:
- Whats the exact name or even number or the part ? ( attached some pic with the good part on the other pipe)
- How to fix it (have some temporary fix with a strong wire see pic) i.e. does the cotter pin sell seperately (alternative parts?), need to change whole pipe, bushing? Anyone any experience with that?

Highly appreciate any input (in return I can share how I did blow it up)
Yours, Stefan

should be #1 in this drawing

probably this part: 8D33-8333-AA

Now: Any hints if I could get the ferrule somewhere? i would think any AM workshop should have several of these lying around, dont you think?

That's a fairly generic part. No need to pay the Aston tax. Just search for 'coolant hose flange clip'.

For example:

A foot in the wrong direction might be bent the other way with pliers. Can't help on the size though.

I don't understand what the short plastic section is for. Why doesn't the hose fit straight onto the metal - is it acting as an adaptor?

It's a glass fiber strengthened fairly rigid part. I assume the rubber would be too soft to stay in place with the pressure and vibration.

If you can't find one big enough, search instead for intercooler hose clips. They tend to be larger diameter.

They are used for all sorts of applications, not just cars.

The plastic of the hose end is damaged in that picture, it's unlikely to stay on with a new clip I'm afraid.

You would be best to replace it.

Commonly known as "Norma" hose ends. https://www.norma-aftermarket.com/en There are a LOT of variations of each size though.

Only comes as part of the hose assembly from AML. You could source a hose end and replace your broken one on the current hose.

Sorry for your loss.

These types of "quick connect" fittings became popular 30 years ago as they make the assembly of a motor easier. Quality control (did it get installed correctly?) is easier, and it's much faster than tightening a screw clamp or a double ear band clamp. Makes the hose more expensive but well worth it to AM where labor costs are a key driver.
