Is there a way to keep them permanently open as with the Vantage? If so, how? where? What does it cost?

The car sounds amazing on start up but then as soon as you press the D button, it goes virtually silent as the valves close. Would be great if they were always open. Thanks.

yup, all VH cars have exactly the same mechanism for the exhaust valves, so simply check your manual and whip out the relevant fuse or substitute it with a cccharger if you want to be able to switch it.

I dont know first hand about Vanq2 so im reluctant to state for a fact but I would say its very likely that its even the same fuse number as on same MY Vantages too. Your manual will be very clearly marked up as to which one controls the exhaust valves either way.

Echoing everything Adam said. Aston did change the fuse number for some models (around 12MY I think) so you might need to know exactly which fuse for your particular model and year.

A couple of words of caution.
  • I found on my V8V (I have a CCharger kit fitted) that if I leave the valves open I get an annoying exhaust "drone" at motorway cruising speed - obviously I can click the remote and close the valves, which fixes the issue, but you can't do that with the fuse out.
  • Under normal use the ECU cycles the valves (open at start; closed up to a rev point; open again up to redline) so all taking the fuse out does is fill in the period when the ECU normally closes the valves. If you remove the fuse the valves never operate and can seize up.
In reality, as the difference on a 4.7 V8 is not too great, I rarely use the CCharger - just if I want to attract a little attention on a high street rolleyes

Clive’s product for Vanquish, although similar, is not quite as easy to fit at home, as it is plugged in to the system in a different way and takes more time to install. Take a look here.

It’s not the same at all. You’ll need a cc box. I do intend to fit one. Seems a great solution

I have mine permanently set in sport mode so it starts in sport and valves are open at 3000ish revs. That way I can quietly move off or make noise with foot down.
