The Raleigh Chopper - It's back...!
Discussion
Never had one when I was a kid in the 1970's, and can't afford this new one either
Any PHer's have memories of the iconic bicycle?

Yes, iconic. Also never had one, or a Grifter which I really wanted.
My younger brother had a Grifter, and I had a Raleigh Scirocco racing bike..Am sure Raleigh also did a small version of the Chopper called the Chipper..!

Yes I had a Chipper , It was a cool bike , everyone thought it was a chopper , I think the rear wheel was the same size as the choppers front wheel.Am sure Raleigh also did a small version of the Chopper called the Chipper..!

Grifter was the heaviest bike ever....
Yes! Dreadful lumps to move and get going with little legs! Boy did they sap your energy on a run..I found the Chopper I tried as a kid a terrible ride, probably my first ever experience of a style-over-substance product. Ponderous and wobbly, like those old American tractors that had their front wheels set together...or probably any custom chopper with or without ape-hangers!
Loved the odd bmx I could cadge a ride on, never had one of my own..
