Hey guys, I am a new owner of a blue 92 Griff and just got the car a few weeks ago.
I read about the air intake improvements with hose and filter kits from ACT etc. but wonder if somebody ever thought to shorten the air intake significantly and avoid the hot air from the engine bay by re-routing directly from the plenum straight into the passenger footwell above the battery?
I know this most likely is a stupid idea banghead but since I can't figure out why not I thought I might ask the experts here.
Thanks for any thoughts.

Engines like fresh cool air to run effectively.
I’m sure someone may have looked at modifying it in the past but the truth is there is very little room to do it.
I like Act products, not cheap but quality stuff.

The car will stink of fuel when shut down, also do you want a plenum explosion to end up in the footwell?

The act kit works well, is unrestrictive to 350hp .. use it smile

If you take the filter out under the nose you will notice there is a shroud on the engine bay side but the filter sits over a hole from the intake at the front so it should have copious amounts of cold fresh air.

The air travelling through the intake hose is moving over very quickly when you have you foot down, too quick to be heated much by the hose temperature.

This biggrin

I noticed more induction roar when I fitted the far more free flowing ACT set up.

It’s the sort of thing you do once and given a good life will last many years.
A good K&N filter is a good purchase too. I bet most air filters have not been changed for years.
They do last well though thumbup

When I bought my 92 Griff, it had only done a few thousand miles since the air filter had been replaced by a well known specialist.
When it reached 10,000 miles I thought I would take it off to assess its condition and either clean or replace.
Fell apart in my hands gov! That had not been changed for some time, and certainly wasn't restrictive as it wasn't doing any filtering either.
