Two weeks ago my uncle was killed in a freak accident in a Maserati 3200 and I was just wondering if anyone had any experience or knowledge of other strange accidents of any nature?

Sorry to hear about your uncle
Could you give more details of the accident. I am not trying to be morbid. It is of interest to me how the car stood up to damage. I assume you are looking into an issue with the car, but i have to point out that any rear wheel drive car with 370+ bhp is not a toy. It can step out and you have to be quick to catch it. The maser's turbo's can catch you out but it is a very well put togeather car. What other cars did he own before the maser? Where they turbo'd or high power.

Once again sorry

He had driven powerful cars since the age of 18 including Ferraris and Astons, the power was not an issue. He had had this 3200 for a couple of years and his previous car to this was another Maserati. It was also down a straight road he drives every day on his way to work.... Its left us confused?

Were looking for any other people who have heard of similar incidents or who know of any problems which could have caused this?

Never had a problem with the car. I assume the cops did an investigation. Due to the unusual nature. Was there heavy breaking (Skid marks). Loss of control?
I know it's not nice but technical details will help.

There has been a recall for the steering column. Due to fatigue in two small clamps. No accident has been attributed to this. Maserati did a full recall. Had your uncles car had the work done?

I assume they checked the road surface?
Was it wet or oiley? Did he have sport on. I tend to drive in sport all the time. Including when it's wet. The car is very challenging but still very drivable in this situation. If it was a steight he probably would have floored the car. This could lead to loss of control. Having said that the cops would have put this in the report.

So sorry to hear your lost.

I hope you find the true cause of this dreadful crash.

I am on my second Maserati 3200 and admit that they can lose control if you are not too careful especially in the wet.

Check if there were any tyre blowouts which nearly happened to me because of incorrectly set tracking. This is another story and I wont go into detail now.

Keep us posted on what you find.

Regards
Gavin
