Video is a bit weird, but shows that AM spent a lot of effort to achieve an overall luxury and quality customer experience.

Like the sound of the new switchgear and infotainment system. Exhaust also sounding nice.

While it does look really good, I hear some very familiar noises from that ‘all new’ interior..

I love what they have done with the jewellery key, reintroducing the glass bit, this is likely to be a popular upgrade for owners of the original car. I also really like the look of the headlights, though a headlight retrofit would be a tad more challenging..

Shame about the loss of that elegant clamshell bonnet.

Is this second DB12 topic, because it is specifically for the ASMR model ?

What does ASMR stand for?
I could only think of 'Asia Specific Manual Roadster', but the car featured is not manual and not a Volante. confused

Well, we had the Grand Tourer and now have the Super Tourer.

Could this be the Aston Super Motor Racing edition smile

As for why we needed a seperate thread for this I dunno, but clearly the mods must feel its valid as they havnt seem fit to close it down as they often seem to do.

Presumably because the mods haven't worked out what ASMR means yet. Once they do, they may well merge it into the original thread.

I followed the link so now know what ASMR stands for.
Seems to be more medical, than motoring.

Anyway, I have been able to take this opportunity for some self diagnosis.
Did you know, that if there is no known medical science cure, then the internet has a solution for every medical difficulty ?
Eg. Full paralysis, no problem - just watch a video and they will sell you a world beating, £100 sticky patch.

...............................................

What is ASMR?

ASMR is the term for the sensation people get when they watch stimulating videos or take part in other activities — usually ones that involve personal attention. Many people describe the feeling as “tingles” that run through the back of someone’s head and spine. Others say the feeling is deeply relaxing, and can even cause them to fall asleep.

...............................................

At last I have discovered what causes me to fall asleep, whilst watching a processional F1 race.
I thought it was simply boredom, watching Max Verstappen going round and round and round with a 20 second lead, but no, it is Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response.

Is there therapy, or a counseling group available?
Can I join ASMR Anonymous?
As an ASMR sufferer I will probably lose sleep now, worrying about my newly diagnosed medical condition.
This new discovery might make me entitled to benefits.
Perhaps there is a PH forum for ASMR sufferers.
Do ASMR do slow protest marches ?

If there is no known reason for your falling asleep in the afternoon, then the medical term for that is idiopathic hypersomnia. If dozing off only during a Grand Prix is frequently in evidence, then that is known as F1 induced hypersomnia - a condition I suffer from no matter who is leading the race. As you say though, it could be just down to boredom, plain and simple.

Two bits of the video that shock me with nastiness are the thing you pull up to make the seat go back - it sounds like the handbrake in a Fiat Panda - why isn't it electric? - and the glovebox opening which seems very cheap and plasticky. As for the bonnet open/close, it's no different from any other car - 'ker-poing' to open and 'clat' to slam shut.

I don't expect an Aston to be 100% totally amazing for every switch, button and action, but if it's no different from any other car, don't put it in your shiny expensive video.

I do like the soft close boot shut though.

Hallelujah. Thank you Octavarium, I am so grateful for your new diagnosis.

I would hate to be suffering from anything described by a set of initials (especially one I cannot remember, except by thinking Aston Sports Manual Roadster). It would probably entitle me to become a Wokey protester and I would certainly not wish to belong to any group, who would have me as a member (thanks GM).
