V8, Apple Carplay, no harsh ride, £60k?
Discussion
This is for a 3rd weekend/toy car. The 3 requirements in subject are all a must. I want a nice sounding V8 as I’ve never owned one and probably never will after this; I hate harsh ride in cars. Whichever car I buy, I’ll put it on smallest wheels that will fit over brakes, as it’s done wonders for ride comfort in my other cars before. So if c63 comes with 19” but 17” fit, I’ll swap to those.
c63(s) - ride too harsh probably? Otherwise a strong bet.
sl63 - better ride than c63; I’ll struggle to find anything newer than 2017 meaning most don’t have Carplay (?)
M5 Comp - always wanted one, but haven’t yet driven. Reviews suggest harsh ride, again?
M550i - makes sense on paper but it’d feel like I’m buying a second family car?
M8? M850i? - maybe?
Maseratis - worried about reliability, pass
What do you think?

F Pace SVR Jaguar - Seriously, try one.
F Type you meant?F Pace I‘ll pass as don’t need a second SUV
F Type would be even better for sure.
I've got a non-comp M5 as the roads around me are terrible and I wanted softer suspension.
Non-comp means pre-OPF filter as well so sounds better than later cars.
It's a really good all rounder but not sure it's what I'd be looking for in a weekend car, it makes a great daily.
M850i convertible is a good shout.
Merc S63 or S550 coupe/convertible.
F type's probably too stiff unless it's one of the new shape P450s - must be softer than the R's.

Thanks all for replies.
I‘m coming from a 718 Cayman GTS and I sold it as I thought it wasn‘t as comfortable as it should be (neither was it as hardcore/lightweight as it should be for track).
Ride wasn‘t terrible but certainly harsh enough to spill coffee from its god-awful cupholders on every speed bump in London. Road noise at motorway speeds also not great.
So definitely looking for a step up in refinement relative to that
From my list and the proposals on here, any that I should exclude on that basis?

Another suggestion here for at least trying an Aston V8 Vantage but given your last post maybe not one with Sports Suspension.
That said I also had a V12 Vantage and whilst that’s not within your budget the suspension on comfort setting made it so much nicer to drive than the sports suspension equipped V8 one I had previously.

Interesting. I had a 981 GT4 CS alongside my V12VS for an about a year. I wanted the GT4 for something a bit rawer, and sold it because it doesn’t really nail the “fun to use as a road car” brief (IOW it was too raw for me for the road most of the time). Noisy, hard ride. Great to drive on well surfaced fast A and B roads (only) but unenjoyable on bad surfaces and motorways, and to be driven in. The ride in my V12VS in track mode is quite a bit softer than the GT4 in normal mode. And whilst the Aston isn’t exactly quiet, it’s a nice noise and a bit removed compared to the screaming 6 cylinder that’s right behind your left ear in the GT4. I remember saying to a mate that the GT4 was as noisy at 70 as the Aston was north of 130.
The facelift (2019 on) C63 coupe has a great ride for what it is. The facelift coupes were given softer suspension to make them more compliant than the pre facelift cars. The only downside is the facelift has a PPF exhaust filter so you loose a little of the noise but they still sound great, make sure you get the AMG performance exhaust! You can also buy a bluetooth exhaust flap controller for extra V8ness if you feel the need.
Car play and V8 are standard.
I have a 2018 pre facelift car and find the ride OK but stiff, it is softer than the BMW M4.

GTS (I had the 4.0 engine) is a nice car but my experience is similar to yours (although 981 GT4 would have been raw-er than 718 GTS for sure). For track use, I now rent Caterhams. For road use, I want more refinement. The hardest I drive on roads is probably similar level of commitment to a sighting lap on track; so the enjoyment must come from refinement, straight line acceleration and nice engine sound. Lexus LC 500 ?
Yes good shout. Wins against lc500 on looks and rarity, probably loses on engine sound
Reviews mention ride is rather harsh? Can you compare at all to any of the cars that have been mentioned?
Also every single one listed on AT has red interior which I *hate* but it‘s obviously a matter of personal taste and I‘m sure I‘d find a tan or cream one eventually (which would be my preference)
