grrr ! another bunch of hypocrits encountered on the M11, and the A127. Essex "Safety" (should that be "Danger"??) camera van doing 90 in a 70, and 50 in a 40. Obviously I couldn't make a lot of fuss other than stare at them with disbelief that they'd be so blatent in their disregard to the law.

Anyone else seen similar?

Take their license plate and write to Essex Police, citing the date, time, location etc.. and ask them for their reasons?!?!

I thought I read that Essex partnership vans were manned by serving police officers. As I understand it if this is the case and the van is being used on police business then they are exempt from speed limits. I may of course be completely wrong and would stand to be corrected if anybody can produce figures for how many policemen were prosecuted for speeding whilst on duty.

No, a police officer is not exempt for speeding whilst on police duty.

I have witnessed a police officer being prosecuted for driving a marked police car through a Gatso, whilst taking a prisoner to jail.

I assume however if responding to an emergency they can "make progress" which is just as well, as if I needed them quickly I would hope they weren't pootling along at 30mph !!
