Small SUV, Economic £17.5k?

A Hyundai Kona might be worth a look. Probably a bit smaller than a Nissan Qashqai I would guess.
We recently purchased a 22-plate 1.0 T-GDI MHEV Premium in resale grey. Currently on 11,000 miles. Good spec. Heated front seats, heated steering wheel, touch-screen sat-nav, DAB, reversing camera, key-less start, etc. Didn't come with any mats surprisingly, but I don't know if that's because Hyundai are stingy or because the previous owner kept them!
The missus (who chose the car) rarely drives anywhere and I find myself grabbing the keys for my S-reg Peugeot 306 instead (or the bike)! The Kona's a perfectly acceptable car but my god it's boring and barely gets used.
WBAC has offered us £17,000 for it and Motorway value it at £18,200, though that is just their valuation and I haven't uploaded the photos yet so haven't received any offers via Motorway.

Mpg is OK, but worse than the equivalent corolla and it doesn't handle as well.
Massive Rear quarter blindspots, in traffic you almost have to open the window and stick your head out to check.
Rear space is tiny, and dark too.
I've been interested in the Kona, they seem good and the time I spent in the back of one being used as a taxi was comfortable with decent space. The drive train seemed as good as the Toyota one, it was smooth and quiet.
Plus if in future you want to go EV, you an get a Kona with that option so it's an easy transition .

They seem to have come down a bit in price recently and have a reputation for being decent to drive. Having owned an original Puma 1.7 I hated the new one at first but its actually grown on me now.

The Mazda Cx-3 or the Cx-30 is a very nice car but go for the high-power engine

One of the Vitara engines has a ridiculously short servicing schedule, no idea which one but 9 monthly. Like any owner will genuinely be doing that after 5 years.
If you want small, the Mitsubishi ASX is surprisingly good, post 2019 facelift last of the lines are within budget with ease.

Kona or the even smaller one, the Kia Stonic might be worth a look.Guess we need some more parameters to home in on what you/ she wants. Plenty of choice at 17.5k, what toys, actual size, and how economical is necessary?
