Hi folks - as per the title really - any ideas on likely causes and severity? I'm in the process of trying to get the car back to the dealer (was a main dealer approved/Timeless purchase fairly recently) but would be good to get the community view on any popular reasons this may be happening.

Thanks

Never heard of this one.

However, given the stated symptoms,
common sense would point to a fuel leak somewhere between pump and injectors. If you can smell it in the cabin you should be able to see the leaking fuel under the car.

Very quick. Is that the HWM Flying Technician or are there others?

Don't think it was an AM-specific remote tech.

Anyway, he's already been and confirmed the car needs recovering back to the workshop to properly diagnose. Will update further as the saga progresses, but expecting to be without the car for a number of weeks now...

I have to say, service from AM Roadside Assistance has been fabulous so far. Within about 90 mins of my first call this morning I had a remote tech here. Within an hour of the remote tech deciding the car needed recovering to a workshop I'd had a call to arrange that. I've already had a subsequent call to arrange my courtesy car, and it looks like that will be delivered later this afternoon. The recovery of my car would also have happened this afternoon, but as it wouldn't have been delivered to AM until Monday I've asked them to delay collection until Monday AM as I didn't want it sat in a storage facility over the weekend.

Let's see how it progresses, but full marks so far...

Well, the fabulous service from AM Roadside Assist didn't really last as long as I'd hoped...but I won't go in to that just now as the car is finally on the back of a trailer and on its way back to the AM dealer. Will update as the saga continues as there may be one or two bits that are of use to others in the future...

An update…so, it would seem that the gasket had failed on the inspection panel on the top of the fuel tank. Hence vapours getting in to the cabin as the fuel tank is just under the boot carpet. There’s lots of sound-proofing in that area too, and it was all pretty smelly, so has ben replaced. Seems to be all sorted now.

Why would that failed gasket cause the vehicle to stall?

They re-learned the misfire corrections whilst they had the car too - I suspect the two faults may have been unrelated albeit the symptoms pointed to a single issue somewhere in the fuel system. I guess time will tell if either the stalling or the fuel smell reoccurs
