If this sort of thing were happening in an African country people would be talking about how corrupt 'nations like that' are, and they would be right. Lets face it, all governments are borderline criminals no matter where you are but the UK has joined the list of countries with massively corrupt governments that don't try to hide it. Frankly I am embarrassed to be British.

This kind of hysterical, unbalanced post makes me laugh. "Massively corrupt government"? Don't be so ridiculous. If anything, the process culminating in the verdict from the Privileges Committee demonstrates quite the opposite.

Perhaps take a look at governance in South Africa lately, or Zimbabe, or Nigeria........those in charge go way beyond "borderline criminals". Or perhaps you think the way they conduct government in Pakistan is on the same level to the UK? Think Bashar al-Assad in Syria is no worse than Boris?

I'm proud to be British even if you're not.

While the UK is not as corrupt as many countries, it does appear to be quite corrupt.

Massive amounts of taxpayer money funnelled into the hands of friends of Ministers and party donors. Access to Ministers sold to anyone with the money. Mis-managed Government Projects that go massively overbudget; with no fault or penalty on the private sector company that is doing the project.

A couple of Johnsons' best political pals being given pointless honours is the very tip of the iceberg.

Why are you proud? Your personal contribution to British history and culture is next to zero and most likely you being British is an accident of birth, rather than a conscious choice (even if you are a second gen immigrant I would bet a lot that your parent didn’t come here because of a love of warm beer, irreverent humour and bad food).

I bit like me saying when Djokovic wins the French open tomorrow that I am proud, just because I play tennis too!
