Strap looks wrong. As it should have an f1 strap.
My dad was wearing an old F1 tonight at dinner.
I owned one bought from AD when I was about 19, about 91/2. When I finished my apprenticeship.
I left it in the house when I got married 25 years ago.
It was the same colour.
The question is, is this that watch or has my dad bought another one that was fake, or has the strap been replaced.
Would love it to be my old watch. (First “expensive “ watch I bought.
My dad traveled a lot back then all round the world. And I suspect he may have bought a fake.
But as I said I’d really love it to be my old watch.

To be frank, it looks like it's had a hard life. The likelihood is that the strap isn't original.

It’s had a massive hard life tbh. If it’s my original. My dad is a wee bit addled now and can’t remember. I don’t even know why he wore it tonight. But it’s identical to mine bought over 30 yrs ago apart from the strap.
Just thinking it would be great if it was mine. He doesn’t really remember. I thought I traded it in for a breitling when I was 21, or I just left it at home when I moved out. But my dad knows the jeweller and may have bought it.

It sounds like it would be one heck of a coincidence if they were two different watches.

So get a new strap and be happy that you've been reunited with your old watch.

It does. I’ll look into getting a proper strap for it.
Doing ok for over 30yr rubber quartz watch.

Needs a closer look to see if it’s a genuine watch or a fake. If it’s real, it’s almost certainly yours with a replacement strap fitted.

Can you date the watch (approximately) from the serial number perhaps?.

I had one of these, was a gift from a now ex, sold it on eBay, got over 100 quid for it (way back in 2001), probably fits my little finger now, watches have grown some in the last 20 odd years.

It was a birthday present from my cousin for which I will be forever grateful. I did stop wearing it as it is tiny and looks like a girls watch.

I offered it to my kids and they had no interest. They only want my Apple Watches which I would have given them if they had shown more interest in the Tag.
