Hi all - after a bit of advice as my front parking sensors are being a bit weird.

Up until earlier this week, both my rear and front parking sensors are active when im reversing close to objects/ edging forward closer to them - without me having to press the parking aid button at all. (light always off)

This weekend, the front parking sensors now only work if i press the parking aid button and the light is on - however the rear ones still work as they always have.

Now this is not a massive issue, it is clear the sensors are working which is the main thing - and I am fine if the solution is pressing the parking aid button before I am about to park forward somewhere close to an object. However - seeing as I never had to do this previously, it does seem strange and I'm wondering if anyone has had this issue before and if so how to go about fixing it? I have cleaned the sensors with a damp cloth but to no success. Also had the sensor module replaced 6 months or so ago so it shouldn't be the module.

Many thanks all in advance.

Probably teaching you to suck eggs, but you do know that the sensors only activate automatically in reverse? If you’re driving forwards towards an object you need to press the button to activate them. If you’re manoeuvring and you’ve engaged reverse then all the sensors, including the fronts, will remain active for a few seconds even if you then engage first gear.

My front sensors have always been active without having to press the button, whether I’ve been in reverse previous or not- for example just pulling into a space with a car in front. It’s only the last few times this has changed which is why I thought it was weird! Have never had to activate them before confused

Do they work now after selecting reverse?

This was my recollection with the DB9 I owned

As in that the front sensors were always active or needed to be activated? I know i'm not going mad - they were always active before!

Couldn't tell from your post that you had a DB9 and I've no idea how the PDC works on a DB9. Apologies if I've miscontributed

Can confirm that on my '15 V8V the front sensors need "waking up", either by the button or by engaging reverse. May be something to do with fronts being optional on the V8V? Or maybe it changed through the model years, as so many things AML did.

Below is an extract from the 2015 V8V Owner's Manual

I had a quick look at the 2011 DB9 manual online and it reads exactly the same.
