Importing car to UK

I’m exploring importing a 2004 car into the UK and wanted to understand the most cost effective way to undertake and those companies who can assist.
Car is a RHD Japanese export which currently lies in Europe. Whilst the car has been in Europe, it was never registered on the road. Duties / taxes have been paid for import into Europe.
Would there be a benefit to registering in Europe and then importing or importing on the Japanese paperwork? Would there be a duty difference on whether it’s a European or Japanese registered car?
