Garden SOS programs

Maybe more of a topic for the DIY section but has anyone ever lived next door to one of these types of places and seen over the garden fence whether the residents keep them up?

There is one on BBC at the moment that takes low budgets and turns them into half decent outfits.

I'm talking less about the sob story/disabled type here and more low budget types.

I always cynically think they turn into a mess after 1-2 years, use cheap materials that aren't protected/treated the lot.

A guy I knew vaguely from circuit racing years ago placed his race car (complete with sponsorship) on his drive so it was caught in some shots when Ground Force filmed at the house next door. I saw it on the TV and asked him about it. Apparently the owners were polite about it to Titchmarsh and crew but really didn't like some of it so changed quite a few things after they had left, particularly a feature sculpture that was gone within days.

I seem to remember there was a 'revisited' as well. The owners sold up and moved and the new owners let it go completely. I think the only view on TV was over the fence.
