Santander Mobile Banking App

Need help please.
My wife prefers to use her Ipad for internet banking, dodgy eyesight reasons.
In the past few months her Santander mobile banking app seems to go on a siesta when she tries to log in, make a payment etc, and frequently times out.
The banking hamster can be seen in his wheel on the screen at every step of the way, accopmpanied by her screaming at it and blaming me (God knows why - I think it must be what husbands are for).
At the suggestion of the bank's tech support, she tested out the broadband speed (45/45 megabits) and then downloaded the Santander Mobile App onto her iphone 10.
It works fast and properly on her phone.
Does anyone have any idea please what may need adjusting on her Ipad to get it working on there too?
We have switched it off and on again, and cleared history and cookies.
We haven't yet tried throwing it at the wall.....yet
