Bike carrier on powered struts

I have a Marco Polo and want to fit a tailgate-mounted bike carrier that weighs c.15kg. The seller said that the powered struts may be unable to deal with it. (Of course it would be unloaded.) Is that actually an issue?

Hey - I have a W447 V Class (18 plate) so probably similar to yours without the camping stuff.

I bought a Fiamma carrier for it a couple of months ago and can confirm that the boot no longer lifts to the previous height. There was no warning of this from the company I bought it from and it doesn't seem to cause any error - it just opens around a foot lower than it used to.

I may ask when I take it in for a service if there's anything that can be done to adjust it.

For reference I found that the Fiamma carrier pushed against the rear spoiler lip at the top of the boot, so I raised it slightly with a few washers on each bolt, and although it still touches, it doesn't appear to 'pull' on it.
