Hi all

I have a 1987 Kawasaki GPX750r that I used to get serviced by the much-missed MTC in Reading. Does anyone have a recommendation for an alternative workshop nearby?

Thanks.

Supposedly Martins Motorcycles behind the Oxford Road is quite good - I certainly see him working on a lot of older bikes. There is also a Kawasaki specialist along Rodway Road near the roundabout - I'll have to find his name out for you.

Don't even bother with GS Motorcycles or Keith Mannings - absolutely bloody useless the pair of them.

PDQ in Taplow are good, near the train station and have experience in all sorts of stuff.

I used Baltech once a couple of years ago for something on my 06 ZX6R (possibly an MOT). Seemed like a good little place but they don't open on Saturdays which doesn't always work for me.

Last year I got it serviced by MJ Motorcycles as I needed somewhere I could drop off on Saturday. Don't think they see many big bikes (think their main trade is every single scooter courier in Reading!), and I was slightly dubious about going there. Had no issues and the owner seemed a really genuine decent bloke.

Bike servicing is a bit of a PITA in Reading these days since my favorite place closed in Covid.

That's interesting. Wasn't aware of them and I actually live in Woodcote currently. Only temporary until autumn, but then we will be just down the road in Caversham again.

Slightly off topic but the late 80’s Kawasaki GPX 600 and 750 were bikes that I particularly liked. The latter would often be in the shadow of the GSXR 750 and Honda VFR 750, but to me they were the best all rounder of the lot.

Please post some pictures.
