NIP received for 46 in a 40. Local police.

I last did a speed awarensss course in Dec 2020, so within 3 years, but the NIP from that time was a different police force.

Question: is the speed awareness eligibility by police force, or is national. Would local police know I was on a speed awareness course if that was offered by a diff force?

in theory it's national, but there are tales on here of getting away with it. I did two in 3 years (just) in different counties, the second one being in 2016, the first in 2014, so an age ago

... Some forces - Dorset I think aren't part of the national system so it doesn't count on the 3 years things...

Thanks. Some (but not an abundance of) hope for me then.

Yep Dorset aren't in it (used to be the only ones but not sure if that is still the case).

1 month off the 3 yr SAC availability and done for 35 in a 30 up country by a different police force so suggests its national .

Do 50,000 miles pa and never seen so many speed cameras, it's all about revenue generation .

Drive like a nervous wreck nowadays as one slip in concentration and a minor discretion gets penalised.

They are even hiding new digital cameras behind hedges down my way. It's just not cricket, devious bar stewards

The National Speed Awareness Course (NSAC) is national. The clue is in the name.

The National Motorway Awareness Course (NMAC) is also national.

NSAC and NMAC are separate courses and both can be done within a 3 year period (offence date to offence date).

Dorset police offers a Driver Awareness Course, which isn't a national course.

National = England and Wales - certainly not Scotland, not sure about NI.

I just pop the speed limiter on, just a thumb away.

Yeah I do most of the time but this stretch of dual carriageway had 4 different speed limits some only 500 yards long. I thought I was still in a 40

Maybe driving isn't for you if you are a nervous wreck when driving as you did to pass your test.

That’s an interesting nuance. The course I did 2 and a half years related to a motorway speeding offence near Gateshead whereas this was not on a motorway in rural Notts.

The AA Drivetech booking email from the motorway offence simply referred to it as a speed awareness course.

All will be revealed in the fullness of time!

I could be wrong, but I thought the NMAC was specifically aimed at transgressions in variable speed limits

“NMAC is for people who have committed a traffic offence on a motorway, for example exceeding a variable speed limit, driving on a lane closed by a red X and driving on the hard shoulder. This course is only offered for speed offences where a variable speed limit is exceeded (speed offences detected where the national speed limit applies are referred to NSAC). It aims to make motorways safer, more efficient and a better experience for people who use and work on them. There is a mix of information, discussion and reflection on the things that affect people’s driving. It is designed to be interesting and useful so that people leave with practical tips to help them drive safely on motorways. The course can be taken at a venue (NMAC) or online (iNMAC).”
