A friend of mine showed me his 2017 Vanquish S Carbon yesterday and it was absolutely stunning in a rich blue with full cream quilted leather (no idea of the official exterior colour name). As some of you maybe aware I’m in the market for a DB11, but this looked so gorgeous it has to be worth a look.
He has placed a deposit on a DB12 expecting/hoping to take delivery Q1/2 2024. therefore his Vanquish will be for sale early 2024 approx. The price is expected to be approx £130K. Mileage is around 14K.
Yet to drive one and would appreciate any current/previous owners thoughts compared to the DB11?
Spotted the one below but I don’t like the interior, thoughts on the asking price would be a useful guide though.

Its been for sale for well over a year and the price was dropped to £97k at one point so would expect you to be able to get it for that if not less. Being a 2017 car, it will only cost £180 a year to tax against £695 for a pre-2017 car so a nice bonus.
White and black cars do seem to take a while to sell and there are a lot more of them about so if you like the exterior but not the interior, im sure it wont be long before another white one comes up for sale with an interior that's more to your taste.

The car you have linked to is a standard Vanquish, not an S. You can spot the difference by looking at the front diffuser. The S has winglets on each side at the bottom and a wider centre opening. At the rear the S has quad pipes. £20-£30k difference in price between the 2 models on average. He has placed a deposit on a DB12 expecting/hoping to take delivery Q1/2 2024. therefore his Vanquish will be for sale early 2024 approx. You have to test drive. You will get a lot of negativity
on the DB11 from this forum, mainly from those who have never driven one. The V12 is a fantastic car and a simple reflash takes it to either DB11 AMR power or well beyond to DBS power if desired. Even the final DBS 770 was just a software remap.
There’s no doubt that the Vanq S is a fabulous car, and arguably the best VH-era car. It’s also a halo car, much more expensive, carbon body etc. Just remember the DB11 was not a direct replacement for it, it was a replacement for the DB9.
Being a next generation car the DB11 moved the game on significantly from the VH cars, even the very best and last of them. Objectively, the DB11 is faster, more economical, safer, more spacious, much better equipped, and has what will probably become something of a sought after lump - the (for now) discontinued Aston Martin twin turbo V12, no longer an option for DB12.
Subjectively, while a majority would hand the looks prize to the carbon clad Vanq, the DB11 is still a beautiful GT car (“It’s the most beautiful car I have ever seen, even its door mirrors are beautiful” (c) Clarkson, Grand Tour season 1), there exists a significant minority who would consider the DB11 better looking, or think it the equal of the Vanq.
Three years ago, at pandemic start I went to chop in my then 2yr old, 17,000mile Cinnabar DB11 - this:

for a mint, fully loaded, 18 month old, 4000 mile Ming Vanquish S - this:

A deal was pretty much agreed. It involved both my 11 and my Rangie. Before signing I went for an extended drive in the Vanq S. I was disappointed, and decided the Vanq S was not worth both my 11 and my Rangie. In the end, I simply could not bring myself to let go of my fantastic DB11 V12 and I have still got it (and the Rangie!). The DB11 V12 is a much more modern, real-world much faster and better all round car. It attracts pretty much universal love in petrol stations (as I am sure the Vanq also does).
Unless you have the megabucks and are prepared to wait for a DB12 then maybe forget it for at least couple of years until a few sold and values drop. Also remember, when the hype settles it is, when all said and done, just a face lifted £140k DB11 AMG V8 with the wick turned right up, admittedly a much better interior, a few nice exterior styling tweaks but an insanely higher price tag. I’m also not sure that that new front bonnet shut line (a la Newport Pagnell), which both DB9 and 11 avoided, won’t ultimately come to be seen as a bit of an error.
You have to take an extended test drive in both, then decide which one talks to you..

Vanquish s is the worst car ive ever owned in this price bracket, not a bad car as such, just nowhere near the competitors dynamically.
looks? yes, beautiful.
Noise? For a V12, Nice at the (low) top end, not very nice elsewhere vs ferrari / lamborghini, sounds better than the W12 bentley and the S63 coupe and SL63 4.0.
Glad i got back out of it quickly tbh, especially seeing what theyre dropping to.
Was pretty though

In between my DB11 V8 and my current DB11 V12 with AMR flash, I owned a 2018 Vanquish S. I'd sold the DB11 V8 some months earlier, and my wife and I were walking past the Wilmslow dealership and saw a Vanquish for sale. It was beautiful, and there and then the seed was sown, and once that is inside your head, it puts down its roots and germinates, and there's no getting rid of it. A few weeks later I saw and test drove a Vanquish S at a different dealership. The interior quality was great - filograph quilting, spicy red stitching, B&O sound. But It was the sound of the thing that hooked me, so much so that I never really considered what the driving experience was like. So, I bought it ...
I had it for 10 months, and it was an event each and every time I took it out. But, and here's the thing, I never truly 100% enjoyed the driving experience - not unless I knocked it into sport mode and opened the taps to hear the thing really sing. Which, on British roads is not something you can do with any regularity. For me, it was a car that needed to be driven harder than I would normally do to really appreciate it fully. And, this might seem a bit petty, but I just couldn't get to grips with the 1-77 steering wheel - it just felt so unwieldy to me in the hands.
So, I traded it in for the DB11 V12 w/AMR, and I haven't looked back since. To the majority it may not be as pretty as the Vanq S, and it may or may not have the same presence on the road as the Vanq S, but the DB11 sure makes a damn good effort. To drive, at any speeds and in any conditions (except Sport + when it's wet) is an absolute joy. I have never in my life driven a car that is as good as this one is. And I find it more comfortable too. The Vanquish S is certainly more dramatic, but the DB11 suits me so much better.
Incidentally, I traded in my Vanquish S in January. It's still for sale in the pre-owned listings on the AM website, and has had its price reduced 4 times now to almost the price I was given at trade-in.

I couldn’t agree more. I absolutely love my DB11 V12. I can get the family in when I need to; long trips, short trips…every one is enjoyable and that’s within the speed limit! The noise is out of this world and going under bridges or through tunnels is spine tingling!I had it for 10 months, and it was an event each and every time I took it out. I love the interior and really don’t get why so many people moan about it. Having had a DBX as a courtesy car I was so pleased to get back into mine because the interior switchgear is so much more ergonomic for me. I did prefer the air con seats I no the DBX because they were very effective, whereas in my DB11 they are a little asthmatic.

Because people parrot what journalists say, and journalists of all stripes exaggerate stuff to make for more ‘interesting’ copy. In reality, the DB11 interior is very high quality in terms of materials used and had much improved functionality over its predecessors. The general sin was that the infotainment and its controller was just too obviously lifted from the previous gen Merc, though even that was forgivable to a point. The absolute cardinal sin was the nasty, cheap, afterthought plastic central screen, araldited into a hole gouged into the waterfall and looking, as JC said ”like a lady part”. After the somewhat naff but still cool rotating screen this felt like a massive step backwards.
While many would also have preferred a drivers display a little more upmarket, a ‘rounder’ wheel and ‘squarer’ vents these are trivial and subjective criticisms.
That hideous central display just didn’t belong on any Aston and the guy responsible ‘Interior Design Director’ Matt Hill (who looked pretty much like a kid fresh out of uni in the promotional vids)..
https://youtu.be/VLPnC8SY9co
..or maybe the one who would have green lit the concept (Reichmann) should have been summarily fired for it.
That being said, the rest of the DB11 interior is actually a lovely, very high quality affair. Chromed or polished metal fittings are everywhere from the sun visors to the wheel to the seat controls, on mine there’s no peeling dash leather after 5yrs (unlike my V8VS) and the perforated, brogued seats, door leather and headliner are just beautiful. I even like the ‘footballers kitchen worktop’ crushed carbon bits, it’s an interesting and tactile material which is technically challenging to manufacture.
