I am looking at used cars and some of them have options on (bodykits, exhausts etc)

Because these were options when the car was new,and because some people fit them after the car was new, I want to know if they need to be declared if i were to insure such a car.

Google says all I need is the VIN and it is free.
But when I try these it doesn't tell me what the option the car came with.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

I think it depends on the car/manufacturer. Owners forums are a good place to look for vehicle specific info like this.

I found a way to download the full build sheet when I had a Jeep.

Probably depends on the car - on VAG cars there should be a sticker in the boot somewhere with a load of letters that correspond to the build options and you can look up VW option codes online

This may or may not help but I recall Parker’s Guides which can be seen on line go into great detail.

I've used it before - it's accurate or has been on cars I've put VIN number into

I have just tried this one, and everything it states is correct except my car is not left hand drive!
